CoApp Keeps Improving

One thing I LOVE about co-ops is Principle 6: Co-ops helping co-ops. Prairie Food Co-op in Lombard, IL has a long history of P6 and have again stepped up to the plate with the development and ongoing improvement of CoApp.

Way back in 2018 I had the pleasure of working with Jess Buttimer at Prairie Food Co-op (PFC) on the initial planning of their capital campaign which included co-creating the very first iteration of an app to help co-ops manage their capital campaigns. We unveiled that app at Up & Coming but because the PFC campaign was put on hold due to unavoidable location delays, the app was shelved. Fast forward to 2021 when PFC’s location hurdles vanished and the co-op needed to raise their capital. Jess Buttimer took that app off the shelf, improved it and PFC was the first co-op in the country to use it…and impressively raised $1,000,000!

And the good news is…the app is even better than before. Jess has taken the lessons learned during PFC’s initial campaign and made the app even more robust and intuitive, building in automation and functionality. Thanks to PFC for being the first co-op to use the app and for providing the feedback and ideas that have resulted in an even better and more robust app. If that’s not P6 in action, I don’t know what is!
